09 Jun Steve Rachmad remixes DJ Deep on Deeply Rooted
DJ Deep is a renowned DJ, producer and A&R, who’s prominent career exceeds well over two decades, however his renewed focus on studio output makes him one of today’s most exciting figures pushing boundaries in house and techno. After a break from the studio the Parisian artist returned in 2014 releasing the first instalment of his ‘Cuts’ series on his reputable imprint Deeply Rooted, with subsequent releases arriving on Tresor and Rekids. He’s now tapped up four masterful names for the first in a series of heavyweight remix packages.
Mr G instils his signature raw and robust aesthetic to ‘Surge’ with his ‘Protected Dub’; a rumbling house number with infectious percussive hits, a looped vocal sample and penetrative keys. Steve Rachmad’s version of ‘Surge’ is more faithful to the original but twists its key elements to generate a more low- slung and mesmerising reinterpretation.
Ben Sims reimagines ‘Stressin’’ to form a ruthless and high-octane workout with cavernous kicks and metallic synths that hammers forward, before Roman Poncet remixes ‘New Horizons’ into a punchy slice of techno, mixing elements of the original track with another ‘Cuts’ series track, ‘Steps’.
A1 – Surge (Mr G Protected Dub)
A2 – Surge (Steve Rachmad Remix)
B1 – Stressin (Ben Sims Remix)
B2 – New Horizons (Roman Poncet ‘Steps’ Remix)
