DJ Dimitri goes all out for his fortieth anniversary at Paradiso
On Easter Sunday, March 31, Dimitri celebrates his forty-year DJ anniversary at Paradiso. ‘Dimitri 40 — The Celebration of a Lifetime’ promises to be an iconic evening. Four decades of pioneering work and dance floor wizardry come together in a full-length DJ set by the master himself. From six in the evening to midnight, Dimitri skillfully takes us through the highlights of his impressive career, as only he himself can: unrestrained and unparalleled.
Dimitri is considered a key figure and pioneer of DJ culture in the Netherlands and beyond. He was one of the first to seamlessly blend house, techno, drum ‘n bass, and other styles — not only in terms of tempo but also harmoniously, creating entirely new compositions. This style of mixing was revolutionary and has inspired multiple generations of DJs.
The last forty years have known countless highlights for Dimitri. Milestones include Dimitri’s Hi-Tech Soul Movement nights at the RoXY, his residencies for Chemistry at the Escape, in Ibiza, at New York’s Twilo, and at Trouw. With his top-ten rankings as the first artist from Holland in the DJMag Top 100 (and in Mixmag), he paved the way for Dutch DJ’s who dominated the leading DJ charts in the following years.
During his career, Dimitri also overcame significant challenges. In 2013, he lost his lower leg due to a life-threatening bacterial infection. Within five months, he was back behind the decks – a testament to him that music has the power to heal. Today, Dimitri plays in clubs and at festivals in the Netherlands and abroad every weekend. During his extended sets at Thuishaven, he often demonstrates his greatest skill: taking people on a musical journey.
His six-hour set for ‘Dimitri 40 – The Celebration of a Lifetime’ will be a unique, sensational journey where past, present, and future merge into one euphoric tour de force. With the help of all the creative minds, friends, and fans that Dimitri has gathered around him over the years, Paradiso will be bursting at the seams.
