When Cisco Ferreira (The Advent) and CJ Bolland stepped into the booth together at Blitz, Munich this past July, it wasn’t just another b2b on the lineup, it was the spark that brought Ravesignal back to life.
The two Belgian and UK techno veterans have crossed paths for decades. Both released on the legendary R&S Records in the same era, and go back even further to the late ’80s, when they collaborated as Space Opera, one of Cisco’s earliest steps into dance music. But a shared booth had become a rare occurrence in recent years, until Blitz came calling.
The booking wasn’t a coincidence. The promoter specifically requested the two share the decks for this show, betting on a reunion that hadn’t been heard in years. The gamble paid off: by all accounts, it was one of those nights, a set powered by the same raw, analogue energy that made the original Ravesignal recordings underground classics in the first place.
There’s no recording of the set. No stream, no rip, nothing beyond the memory of everyone who was on the floor that night. But it left enough of an impression that it became one of the driving reasons behind bringing Ravesignal back into active touring life.
Now, with Ravesignal officially available for festival and club bookings, Blitz Munich stands as the moment it all clicked back into place, and a reminder that in techno, the best comebacks are the ones nobody planned on paper.
