NEWS | Insolate Reflects on 25 Years of Techno in Klubska Scena Feature

In a heartfelt interview with Klubska Scena, Insolate (Sunčica Barišić) takes readers through her 25-year journey in electronic music, revealing the moments and values that defined her career. She recalls how her first party at 14 sparked a lifelong love for the energy, unity, and raw emotion of electronic music – a passion that led her from Osijek’s local scene to global stages.

Under the name Miss Sunshine, she began her path as a DJ, later transitioning to Insolate to better reflect her evolving techno identity. Her career soon took her to some of the world’s most iconic venues, including Berghain, Tomorrowland, Exit, and Dimensions, while her productions on labels like Mote Evolver and BPitch Control earned praise from legends like Laurent Garnier and Ben Klock.

Beyond performing, Insolate founded Out Of Place, her own label, to release deeply personal albums such as “Order in Chaos” (2019) and “Full Disclosure” (2025). She also created Hush!, a series of events in Osijek and Zagreb that became a cornerstone of Croatia’s techno culture, winning the Ambasador Award for Best Club Night.

Insolate speaks openly about the challenges of staying true to her sound in an ever-changing industry, the importance of discipline and resilience, and her experiences as a woman in a male-dominated field. Her message to aspiring artists is one of patience, authenticity, and hard work: “Build knowledge, character, and your own sound. This life is beautiful but demands sacrifice, discipline, and thick skin.”
