10 Jul NEWS | Dimitri on Open-to-Close Sets
For Dimitri Kneppers, the open-to-close set is more than a format: it’s where he feels most at home.
“All-nighters are a magical journey where the sense of time slips away,” he says. “Tracks that usually don’t get a chance to shine in a shorter set find their place here.”
He describes the experience as building and releasing tension, comparing it to slowly inflating a balloon. “When it feels like the balloon is about to burst, I let just enough air escape to keep the balance. That way, the energy stays alive and full of anticipation. And when the time is right, I let go of all restraints.”
This year, Dimitri will play four open-to-close sets – and he’s always open to more. For those who’ve witnessed it, his long sets are a masterclass in pacing, flow, and emotional connection.
From the first record to the last – it’s a full story told through sound.
